The morning of the cruise, the girls were freaking out. They had their Mini Mouse outfits to wear and they were set. We had breakfast in that oh so cool hotel restaurant and then waited for our ride to the cruise dock. While we sat outside our hotel waiting for our ride, Hailey and Addy were running around hunting for lizards. This is also where I texted our parents letting them know we were on our way to our boat and wouldn't be in contact till 6 days later when we docked back in Miami. I also sent a few pictures of the girls including the following:
Once they called our number, the girls started silently screaming and up the stairs we went to the long hallway that led to the ship. We were accompanied by Mini Mouse, of course.
Once our ride arrived, we climbed on our bus and off to the Cruise Dock we went. The drive to the cruise dock was so exciting. There was another couple on the bus with us who were also going on the same Disney cruise that we were. They were meeting their granddaughter and other family members at the dock and they were just as excited as we were.... almost.
When we got there, we were given instructions on where to go and to get out our passports and Disney Passport to check in. The check in process was quick but not quick enough. We just were too excited to board the ship.
The girls wanted to stay close to her but it was clear that she was on a mission and needed to be somewhere because she wasn't slowing down. Once we got closer to the ship, we realized why. Picture Time!
As we boarded the ship, it was the most surreal feeling. There were crew members all dressed in Disney Cruise get-up and they announced to the entire ship our arrival as we boarded:
"Ladies and Gentleman! Please welcome to the Disney Wonder, The Johnson Family"
Then, there was a symphony of claps from lots of people as we walked through the main lobby which was beautiful.
Once we were on the ship, we weren't able to go to our stateroom right away because it was still being prepared for us. So, we decided to give ourselves a tour.
Then, we were finally able to go to our room and we couldn't wait to put our bags down and check things out. Our stateroom, 6030 had a Veranda. I am SO glad we decided to get a room with a veranda. It was so nice to be able to walk out and enjoy the salty sea air.
Each day, our room guy would come twice. Once in the morning to clean up and make beds from the night and once in the evening to turn down beds and clean up. It was amazing at the detail along the cruise. We were really well taken care of. Every night when we would come to our room for the night, we would find different animals made out of towels. Also, Hailey bought a little teddy bear. Mickey's bear. And we would find him hanging from various places throughout our room at night.
While on our way to dinner, we found this awesome bar for adults. Of course, we had to take pictures.
This was our first dinner. It was at a restaurant on the ship called Animators Palate.
It was so amazing. When you first arrive and sit down to eat, everything on the walls is in black and white. There are animations everywhere of Disney characters and scenes from movies.
Through the course of your meal, you start to notice everything changing color. Then the waiters all disappear and when they come back, their vests are all in color, the walls are in color and the music brings to life this colorful restaurant full of magic. It's pretty amazing.
After dinner, we went on another journey around the ship to see what all it had to offer for our week of fun. The sunsets were amazing! It was absolutely beautiful.
It was our showtime for the Walt Disney Theater so we headed in that direction, found our seats and waited to see what kind of show we would be watching. I have to admit, I was a little nervous that the girls would be super bored but it was definitely the contrary.
The first show we got to see was called All Aboard: Let the Magic Begin
This is a picture that was taken of us upon arrival and after dinner, we were walking through the Hall of Fame and found it hung up on the wall. To purchase this picture, of course, it was $25.00. So we took a picture of a picture instead. :-)
This concludes Day 1 of our cruise. Stay tuned for more Disney Magic.
