We bought a new house, tore out the carpet, and found a nice big lump of mold. Black mold.
Feeling hopeful that it wasn't as bad as it looked, we asked Dave Coleman to come by and give us his opinion. Dave is Tonna's dad and has had extensive knowledge and experience with construction. He knew immediately that it needed a makeover and it wouldn't be a simple one. In order to get rid of all that mold, we basically had to tear down the entire master bath and start over. Floor joists had been rotted and needed to be replaced. Plumbing wasn't done correctly. We had to tear out the chimney and put in a skylight in it's place. It was a mess. A HUGE mess. A mess we were not prepared for. We were also very blessed to have people in our lives who were willing to help. Our move-in date kept getting pushed farther and farther away. I wouldn't say it was the calmest, most fun time of our lives, that's for sure. There was literal blood, literal sweat and literal tears associated with the challenges our new house had presented. This project was not for the faint. Luckily, we had a workhorse named Dave to keep the renovations moving along.
