Red Ribbon Week

I have a pretty special assignment on the PTO board at the girls school. I am the Chairperson for Red Ribbon Week. Although its a LOT of preparation, I really do enjoy it a lot. By the time this week was over, I had reached over 40 hours of volunteer time at the school...  only a month and a half into the school year!
One of the funnest days during the week is our Cop Day. We have a dad at the school who is a Sergeant.  He helps me out every Year with Red Ribbon Week.  He pulls together his posse of cops and brings them to spend the day at our school.  When I say spend the 'day', I mean it. They were there ALL day for us. These guys have become my friends. I run the program and they help me out... it ends up being a great day for everyone.  This year we had: SWAT, K-9, Motorcycle Cop, DARE, and Cars.

Our K-9 unit did a whole presentation on his dog, Trigger and what they do. I was truly amazed.
Here are some things that I learned about the K-9 unit.
-the dog lives with the cop, his partner, 24/7
-the dog cost $10,000.00
-they speak to the dogs in their native language. In this case, Czech.
-when a dog dies, the cop partner has to take a leave of absence to grieve.
-dogs are programmed for family mode and work mode.
-the k-9 truck is temperature sensitive and will alert the cop by remote if the truck gets too warm or cold for the dog.

I could not believe how well behaved this dog was. It was truly unbelievable. When not in work mode, Trigger was the sweetest dog. Very kid friendly.

While we were waiting for the second group of kids to come out for the presentation, we were just hanging out in the SWAT van chatting away. It was a HUGE success this year and i'm so glad it went well... and that it's over... till next year. :-)

Halloween Happenings

I am the Room Mom for Addy's Kindergarten Class this year and it was so fun planning the Halloween Party. Partly because I have awesome parents who were so eager to help.

The Principal/Director: Mrs. Herring

This Halloween was fun. We decorated giant Pumpkin Sugar Cookies which was a blast. I got to babysit for a friend of mine who just had open heart surgery.  It was a busy day but so much fun. Little Chloe became my buddy for the day. She is adorable.

Birthday Dinner with our Favorite Boy!

Happy 35th Nater!

This year he decided to go to Red Robin for his Birthday dinner which was strange since we NEVER go to Red Robin. However, it was great and yummy and the girls of course loved it. Especially the dessert we had afterward.

Birthday Getaway

For Nate's birthday this year, I decided to plan a little getaway. I reserved a room at the Homestead in Midway and asked my parents to handle the little ones for the night while we enjoyed some time away. It was SUCH A GREAT NIGHT!!! I slept better than I have in a very long time. We had a fireplace in our room, I didn't have to worry about all the little needs of little ones and it was time to hang out in the hot tub, watch a movie and relax.
The next morning, we went and swam in The Crater that is on the property of the Homestead and that was pretty cool. There was a lady in the water that had a waterproof cover on her iphone and was taking pictures of everyone in the water and then letting them text it to themselves.  The weather was a little cool, but beautiful. We had such a fun weekend away.
Happy Birthday Babe!!!

Baby Jace

Baby Jace finally arrived and we were so excited to meet him. Even though Addy and I still had our coughs, John asked us to come visit anyways. We made sure to wear masks. It was so fun seeing John and Amy with their new little addition. He is absolutely precious with the biggest little eyes ever.  He was born on Oct. 21 and weighed in at 6 lbs 18 inches.

Congrats!!!!

October Randoms

Nate has been growing Scorpion Ghost Peppers this summer. Some of the hottest peppers in the world. He thought it would be funny to let Koda lick one. So mean.

Our garbage disposal broke and when I went under the sink to check it out, it spit out nasty food on my face. Ugh. So gross.

My silly girls.

Found out Addy had Bronchitis & Asthema.
Poor girl.

Red Ribbon Week. We made a tree in the hall at school that said 'Don't Fall For Drugs'. We asked all the kids to sign a leaf as a pledge to be drug free. Well, I saw Hailey at recess and said to her "Hailey, don't forget to sign a leave for the tree in the hall". A little bit later, I saw her in the lunchroom and said "hey! Did you sign a leaf?" She handed me a real leaf with her name etched on it and said "yep! here you go mom!"
haha. It was pretty funny, I have to admit. Love that girl.

Addy and Mommy both with Bronchitis.

Annual Neighbor Halloween Party

Our Neighbors and Friends, The Wilsons, have been putting together this Halloween Party every year. They rent this giant Pirate Ship and everyone comes and brings treats and just has a good time together..  Addy wasn't feeling so well this night which we found out the next day that she had Strep. Pour girl.

I made all of our costumes this year. Hailey was a Peacock, Addy was Supergirl and Nate and I were Princess Buttercup and Wesley from The Princess Bride.
