EASTER

When you think of Easter, what comes to mind? Spring? Think again! It was FREEZING and SNOWING! Not a nice joke.

Nonetheless, we had a great weekend. Nate was able to be home on Saturday and we took the girls to a city Easter Egg hunt. Yes, they are bundled as if we were driving up in the mountains to play in SNOW, however, very appropriate because it was windy and COLD. They had a blast. The Egg Hunt lasted about 3 seconds. There were so many kids there, it was crazy.

That night, while the boys were at Priesthood Session of Conference, the girls and kiddos went to the mall to hang out with the rest of the female population of Provo and Orem. Good times.  Later, we met the boys for dinner and ended up going home with some free desserts!

Sunday after the first session of conference, we went to Nate's parents house for some traditional 'waffles and ice cream'. A family favorite. We put the girls down for naps and watched the second session with the family.  Hailey and Avery had so much fun playing together, as usual.

Once conference was over, we headed outside for an Easter Egg Hunt. Not just ANY Easter Egg Hunt. Grandpa and Grandma Johnson always fill the eggs with money. Mostly change, but SOME have BILLS in them. Jessie almost threw money away and the girls made out with tons of change, but the exciting moment for me was the $20 bill I found in an egg. I was pretty stoked.  We topped off the night with an amazing Easter Dinner complete with Turkey and mashed potatos and gravy! Mmmmmm... Thanks for a great Easter Weekend, Scott and Val!

Toddler Dreams

It seems weird to call Hailey a toddler. She seems like such a big girl to be called a toddler. Anyways, last night in the middle of the night, Hailey wakes me up saying she had a bad dream. I take her back to her room and ask her to tell me what her dream was about. This was her response:

"Addy turned into a bird and scared me in the bathroom so I grabbed my shoe and stepped on her!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I was trying SO hard not to laugh. When she woke up this morning, she ran into our room, jumped in bed with Nate as usual and proceeded to tell him the same story and we both were trying again not to laugh. This is serious stuff to a little one!

Nonetheless, super funny. Not to poke fun at my child's bad dream or anything...

8am get Hailey ready for the day
8:15am get Addy ready for the day
8:30am get the girls breakfast (sometimes I have a minute for a bowl of cereal)
8:35am start the car
8:45am get the kids in the car
9am drop Nate off at work
9-11am run errands
11:30 get lunch made for the girls
11:50 get the girls in the car
12pm pick Nate up for his lunch break
1pm run Nate back to work while Addy takes a nap at home with my cousin Rachel
1:30-4:45pm clean, laundry, play with kiddos, etc.
5pm pick Nate up from work (sometimes its 6)
5:30 dinner
6:30 bath and getting ready for bed
7:30 head up for songs, prayers and stories

On Thursdays, my afternoon was as follows:

1:30pm get the girls ready to leave... Hailey for dance, Addy for Grandma's.
2pm leave the house and drive to Orem
2:30ish leave my inlaws after dropping Addy off and head back down to Provo for Dance.
3pm Hailey's dance class
4pm head back up to Orem to get Addy and have waffles for dinner with Grandma
5 or 6pm pick Nate up from work

Saturdays:
Nate goes to auctions in Salt Lake all day which leaves me stranded.

So, as you can see, sharing a car has been a challenge. It's been nice to not have any car payments and to spend some time in the car with eachother, but let's be honest... i've been driving around WAY too much. This schedule does not include random times when Nate calls and needs me to come get him to run some errands for work, etc.

We've made it work and i've gone through MANY moments of irritation with our situation. Yesterday, I wanted to scream to the world my excitement for what happened! Let me remind you, it's been an entire YEAR that we've been sharing a car.

We bought this:

2006 Honda Ridgeline

Especially now that baby #3 is coming, I'm so excited to not have run out the door first thing every morning!
Thank Heavens!!

It's True!

For those of you wondering if the rumors are true, we are indeed expecting baby #3 to join us in November.

We are REALLY excited about it. We have our first ultrasound in two weeks and we'll get to see the little one with our own eyes!

We'll keep you all posted!

Best Soup

Our life is like a bowl of soup. Add a bunch of random ingredients and eventually, you make something AMAZING that is bliss to taste.

I feel like that is how our relationship has been.

Ingredients:
Love
friendship
arguments
kids
memories
agreements
fights
trust
knowledge
finances
comfort
excitement
passion
experience
frustration
irritation

Over the last 6 years, i've put all this together and created for myself the most wonderful life.
The one key ingredient that makes it so great is my better half.

Nate, if you read this, I want you to know it's been a great 6 years. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world and I can't wait to spend an eternity with you. You make me want to be a better person and I don't know who I am without you.  You're the best and I love the heck right out of you.

I'm excited to see what this next year of yummy soup brings. I'm excited to try out new ingredients to make it even more filling!

Love you! Happy Anniversary!

Chocolate and Vanilla!

I'm so blessed to have these two in my life.

They can't get enough of eachother...

I can't get enough of their giggles...

Or their silly faces...

One Blonde. One Brunette. One olive. One fair. One content. One Intense.
Two Fearless. Two Busy. Two irrisistable.

Blend them together and you have one perfect combination of flavors.
Chocolate and Vanilla.

A Day with Daddy

Nate took a day off work last week to spend some time with us girls. It was such a blast! Hailey and Addy were in heaven. He spent so much time just playing with them and they loved every minute of it! Now they ask if Daddy can come home from work to play. It's really precious.

Unbelieveably Greatful...

Let me start off by saying it's been a hard few months. I usually struggle this time of year due to winter depression junk. It's common knowledge with Nate and I that we both have a little prepping to do before January hits. But, no matter the amount of preparation, I still struggle. This year, has been ecceptionally worse. I hide it. I've gotten pretty good at that over the years. Depression has been a big part of me and it's a constant battle. I've learned over the years how to deal with it on my own mainly because medications have an opposite effect on me, therefor, I gave up on trying to find one that worked. Nonetheless, it's been a tough one, this year. Not really sure why. I really have no reason. My life is amazing. I have 2 VERY sweet little girls.

Hailey, my little buddy. She brings me the most happiness and the most frustration at the same time it seems. She knows how to get under my skin, but she also knows when I need a giant hug, squeezing so tight around my neck that my hair gets pulled. It hurts, but I don't mind. She says the funniest things like, 'mom, what's the big idea" and "hey, my bum tooted... what a silly bum." She makes me laugh and makes me cry. At the end of the day, I always wish I was a little more patient, a little more kind and a little more understanding that she's only 3 and not an adult. I love our quiet time together while Addy is napping. I usually take it for granted. I wish I didn't.

Addy, my sweet spirit. She just makes me smile. She's always been a bit of a snuggler. She brings a happiness to our home I can't describe. She allows way too many body slams by her big sister and just goes with the flow. She copys everything her big sister does and "sister" is the first thing she says when she wakes up in the morning. I constantly find myself kissing her perfect little skin more often than she would appreciate. I can't help it. In an effort to be hung upside down any moment she can, I often see her little pleading feet stuck up in the air while she says "WEE!". It gets tiring. I get frustrated with her new love of whining. It gets to me. I wish it didnt. I don't do whining. I look forward to the giggles and the loves she so often gives without asking anything in return.

Nate, my rock. I can't believe he chose me. To see how genuine he is with our girls, is bliss. To realize how much they love him and to hear the shreak of happiness when he walks through the door after a long day, rejuvinates my spirits. He is unselfish. He loves me unconditionally when my faults are at their peak and he leaves a sense of security in every situation. He gives me reason to be happy even when i'm not. He makes me smile when I don't want to. He kisses me goodnight every night. Every time I see him hug our girls, I see the intensity of his love for them behind those strong arms and blue eyes. He understands my moods, most of the time, and doesn't complain. Instead, he hugs me. He is the most patient human I have ever met. Really, the most patient. He wrestles with the girls and loves for them to snuggle him. He loves when a soaking wet Hailey runs out of the bathtub and jumps in the warm blankets with him waking him up. He never gets mad at her for getting him all wet first thing in the morning. Instead, he enjoys every minute of it. He holds them close to cure an 'owie' and kisses them better. He is my angel. God could not have sent a more perfect person for me to spend an eternity with.

I take it for granted. I spend too much time feeling sad and down and depressed during this time of year and the only thing I get from it is a million little happy moments dissappeared before I can enjoy them and hold on to them. I need to be more loving and live in the moment. I need to smile every time I go to put my make up on in front of a smudgy mirror and realize how blessed I am to have little girls who put those smudges on there for me to be reminded every day of that blessing. I need to be grateful that they have hands to splash all the water out of the tub with. I need to be happy that they can run fast enough to run me over and almost knock me down. I need to be happy that they have eachother to fight with. I need to be patient with boo-boos and tears. I need to get on my knees more and thank my Heavenly Father for my wonderful life and my healthy family.

I am greatful. I'm greatful for all these things. Just not to the extent that I should be. I'm working hard to change that. I want to appreciate the little things. The many slobbery kisses. I do love them.

I was reminded of how blessed I am and how precious life really is when I read a story on someone's blog.  I really encourage everyone to take the time to read this heart-wrenching story about a mothers struggle. It really made me think... a lot. Mostly about the little things and what they mean to me. Life is so precious and it's definitely something I take for granted. I'm not invinceable. Anything can happen. (I recommend some tissue. It will hit hard.)

Hold your little ones a little tighter, a little longer. Give them hugs that mean something and remember that they are a gift.

Thanks to my cousin for being the leading roll in my new journey to love life a little more. I know there are some out there, like me, who sometimes struggle at the little things and need constant reminders of the true importance of happiness. I'm right there with you.

Valentine's Day 2010

We are the most spoiled girls ever. Nate had to go to an auction yesterday and when he came home, he brought the girls these bright Valentine's balloons.

For me, he brought these gorgeous flowers:

and these amazing chocolate covered potato chips! If you haven't had these, you should. They are my new favorite.

Nate took me to Tepanyaki for dinner which is one of our most favorite places to eat. When we got home, I presented this little craftiness to Nate:

along with the "This Is It" Blue Ray.

This morning, H and I made valentine's pancakes.

What a great Valentine's Day. Thanks babe for making so special! As always!

From Scratch

Winter is my least favorite time of year...as you know. So, I had to come up with some things to keep me busy. (as if my kids don't keep me busy enough) First, I started with some serious organizing. My house needed it. I was able to go through all my craft stuff and put it in ONE place. It's the best thing ever. Here are a few "crafty" things i've been working on:

Candy Jars
I made these for some people for Christmas. This is the best little idea. I love how cute these look. Thanks to my friends for 'craft night'. I would have never thought of this!

Refirbished Clock
Another credit to craft night. I made this to match the girls room. I love how it turned out.

Calendar Board
I really wanted to hang a calendar up so I could constantly have something to look at and know what's going on with meals, plans, dance, church callings. I hated the idea of just nailing a calendar to the wall, so I dressed up a little board that I can use every year.

Conversation Hearts
I made this little decoration for my Mother in Law. She has been so helpful and kind in taking care of Addy for me every Thursday while I take Hailey to dance. Although there's really nothing that can show my appreciation, I thought she might like this little Valentine decoration. Hailey helped me paint them.

Kitchen
It's not completely finished. I still need to add the backsplash and the chalkboard to the side, but this is how it looks so far. I took apart an old ugly nightstand and turned it into hours of fun!

I enjoy little projects where I can use a little creativity and come up with something fun! Now that I have better access to all my craft stuff, there's no telling what i'll come up with next!
